PERSONALITY: Born in Settle, Washington, Amanda Grayson spent the majority of her life indoors due to usually consistent rainy weather. Not that she minded because it was what first turned her on to her love of books and literature, and it was this great love of her life that would eventually lead her to the other. At 24, Amanda took a position at a local girl's school teaching, what else, but literature. Five years later, a seasoned veteran of the field and one of the best teachers at the school by most people's opinions, Amanda Grayson was left the task of demonstrating what education was like on Earth for their new ambassador from Vulcan. After instructing her students by reading them the text and conducting a discussion over the character's motivation, the meaning behind the setting, and various other things that one would discussion about literature, she dismissed the children to lunch and approached the ambassador for an evaluation of what he thought of their teaching methods.

When his response was that it was imprecise, rambling, overly qualitative without any proper quantitative measurement of success or accuracy, and in places, highly irrelevant, Amanda's response was simply "Thank you."

And so started what would eventually turn into a whirlwind courtship. Married a year later (2230) on Vulcan, Amanda become one of the only human residents on a planet that prides itself with tradition, of which she was a clear violation. But despite the cold reception that she initially received from many of the others, Amanda braved it all. A strong and unceasing spirit, she wasn't going to let a couple of naysayers get to her. She was better than that, and her love for Sarek (and his for her) was far stronger than anything that could be thrown its way.

Independent and often hardheaded, things thrown in its way tended to be in a vein of arguments. Amanda bent for many Vulcan customs, but there were some things that she simply wouldn't bend to. It was only after much consternation on his behalf and much indignation on hers that they managed to reach an agreement on the traditional balance of power, especially the right of a husband to call his wife to his side at any time for any reason. Amanda was insistent that she was not a dog to be taught to come, sit, and stay, but after many arguments, many headaches, and a few quiet words from Sarek, Amanda was reassured that the only reason he would ever call her to his side would be for appearance sake or because he simply wanted her nearer.

It wasn't long after arriving on Vulcan that the loneliness started to get to Amanda. Sarek was away on duties so often, and she had no one that she could truly talk to there. The urge to start a family was growing strong within her, but when they discussed it, it became clear that it would be difficult if not impossible. The scientist that he was Sarek understood that basic Vulcan physiology and basic Human physiology are counter to each other in many ways, and the blending of the two would not be a process that nature would take without a fight.

But two years, several doctors, many pains, and two brilliant minds later, their son, Spock, was born in 2232. Overwhelmed with joy, admiration, and appreciation, Amanda promised herself that she would love her baby boy no matter what and make sure that he was given every chance to do whatever his dreams entailed. It struck her to the core when she realized for the first time that her son was going to be looked on as lesser for most of his life because of having her as a mother. And she cried every time that he would come home, stiff-lipped, suppressing the feelings that wanted to spill out of his human side because of the propriety required by his Vulcan one. The conflict was almost palpable to Amanda, and it was so every day up until he left home for Starfleet, though, perhaps lessened by growing years and experience.

The years that he spent at Starfleet and the rift that separated him and his father left her only able to correspond with him for quite some time, though his letters were always a joy even if they were often little more than precise and efficient recollections of his days. As much as she enjoyed the letters and was proud of his accomplishments, she longed to see him. It was ashame that the first opportunity that she had to look upon him in all that time was when he burst to the katric arc to tell them that the planet was about to be destroyed.

Hurrying out of the shelter and onto the surface of the planet, what met Amanda's eyes was a horrible nightmare landscape and certainly not the Vulcan that she'd come to love. Fear gripped her but was overpowered an a sadness that she couldn't shake. Turning back to the party, her eyes sharing it first for her husband before her eyes landed on her son, understanding and sympathetic, offering him a quiet reassurance.

"It's okay to be scared."

And not more than a second later, she felt herself drop, the ground giving way behind her, and the rest of the party faded out of sight.

WHY HAS YOUR CHARACTER CAUGHT THE EYE OF THE COLLECTOR?: Three words: Peace Keeping Skills.

THIRD-PERSON RPG SAMPLE: This...was a library. It wasn't often that a starship looked like a library unless one was in the library of a starship, but this was most definitely a library. She had to have ended up in the wrong place. Her eyes lifting to the empty spot where her son should have been standing, Amanda was more than certainly of it. She was in the wrong place. It was really such a shame that she didn't know what that place was other than a very immense library. But all answers come in time, and when one was deposited into the middle of an unfamiliar library by sheer dumb luck, one does not pass up the opportunity to peruse the reading material.

Amanda had to say that she was more than disappointed when each book that she opened was blank, "What's the use of a book without pictures of conversation?" Amanda recited, quietly amusing herself as she tried another. Still blank. What's the use of a library for blank books? the sound of melt on melt, however, distracted her from her attempt to read nothing. Eyes lifting from the blank pages, the line of animated suits of armor heading towards her provoked a soft, surprised noise.

Curiouser and curiouser. This place certainly seemed odd. How far off had the transporter beam thrown her? She couldn't recall any planets near Vulcan with this sort of life or technology.

As they closed the distance between them and her rather rapidly, snatching her by both arms, Amanda was taken off guard, a frustration building her gut, "Get your hands off of me, you melt monstrosities!" She growled, yelping as she met with the pavement outside the library face first soon after, something that looked similar to a comms device laid next to her before the knights retreated inside, closing the doors behind them. By then, she had flipped over onto her rear, glaring up at the doors with a huff.

"And stay there!"
